Often dubbed an inland Halong Bay, Ninh Binh captivates visitors with its dramatic limestone karsts and peaceful rural charm.

Although Tam Coc is the best-known attraction, its popularity has made it overly commercialized. Instead, opt for lesser-known cave systems where local guides quietly row you through serene waterways, framed by towering cliffs and tranquil lakes.

Cycling is a fantastic way to explore Ninh Binh’s raised paths, which meander through emerald rice paddies and villages. Nearby, Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam, invites exploration with its weathered temples and historic ruins. Only two hours from Hanoi, Ninh Binh makes for a doable day trip, but staying overnight allows you to truly absorb the area’s peaceful beauty and cultural depth.
