Kyoto Cultural Experience

Here is your chance to delve further into Japan's culture by studying a favourite hobby. The Women's Association of Kyoto is responsible for organizing and executing these classes, and a cab will pick you up from your hotel and drop you back off at your accommodation with an interpreter in tow. You will learn the fundamentals of these time-honoured arts and crafts in the following two hours. The women who teach the classes have honed their expertise throughout ten, fifteen, or even twenty years, and they are pleased to share their knowledge with others. They are now more than willing to teach you these techniques. Hopefully, you'll carry the memories of this personal encounter with you for the rest of your life.

Please specify which of the following activities you'd want to participate in while in Japan when making your travel arrangements:

This list includes the arts of tea ceremony, ikebana flower arrangement, calligraphy, kimono wearing (for both men and women), origami, cooking, Japanese dancing, and fabric or paper crafts.

Our Japanese staff has participated in several of these programs; if you need guidance, consult an expert. A different local host family in Kyoto hosts each event.

You can combine origami with one of the following courses for a nominal fee, and a slightly larger fee will allow you to combine any two.
