Alchi – A Treasure Trove of Ancient Buddhist Art in Ladakh
Perched at 3,120 meters in the serene landscape of Ladakh, Alchi is home to one of the region’s oldest and most culturally significant temples. Dating back to the late 11th century, these ancient shrines are adorned with delicate murals created from diluted semi-precious stones, preserving their vivid colors and intricate details across centuries. They represent some of the finest surviving examples of Buddhist art in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
