Kratie – Riverside Charm and Rare River Dolphins
Bustling with character and local life, Kratie is a charming riverside town that serves as a key stopover for travelers crossing into Cambodia from Laos. Its relaxed pace and scenic location on the banks of the Mekong make it more than just a transit point.
Kratie is best known for its rare and endangered Irrawaddy dolphins, with only around 75 individuals remaining in the wild. Conservation efforts are ongoing, but lucky visitors can still spot these elusive creatures as they gracefully surface in the river, especially during the dry season when water levels are low.
