Located north of Puri in Odisha, the Konark Sun Temple is hailed as one of India’s most stunning architectural marvels. Built in the 13th century, this grand monument was once situated along the coastline, although the sea has since receded more than two kilometers.
Dedicated to the Sun god Surya, the temple is artistically designed as a colossal chariot. It features twelve intricately carved wheels symbolizing the months of the year and is drawn by seven horses, each representing a day of the week.
Legend says the entire structure took 16 years to complete, reflecting exceptional craftsmanship and unwavering spiritual dedication.
