Wat Pho & The Grand Palace
An early start will take you to Wat Pho, one of the most serene and spiritual sites in Bangkok. At this hour, you can be treated to the early morning chanting ceremonies of the monks in the temple which start at 9 a.m. It is a very peaceful and breathtaking experience which will expose you to the real forms of Buddhism, probably before the tourists arrive. After this you can further explore the temple grounds, which enshrine beautifully designed stupas, marvellous murals, and the magnificent 45-meter long Reclining Buddha. His golden body signifies the passing away of the Buddha into nirvana.
Next visit The Grand Palace, Thailand’s greatest architectural and historically interesting monument. Built in 1782 it was at one time the residence of royalty and is renowned for its impressive architectural splendours, its gilded decorations and its splendid throne halls. The temple Wat Phra Kaew, (the Temple of the Emerald Buddha) is situated in the palace ground and contains the most revered and most mysterious of all Buddha images in Thailand. This sacred image carved from one solid stone of jade, signifies spiritual purity which is cherished by the Thai people.
