Getting to know Koh Samui
Koh Samui is one of Thailand’s most famous island destinations and the perfect paradise for those in search of a little escapism and plenty of relaxation. The island is well-known for its fantastic white, powdery beaches, as well as tropical forests, secret coves and lush-green landscapes. Although Koh Samui has been a focal point for tourists for more than three decades, the island has still retained its wonderful sense of authenticity and is an excellent destination for visitors who are keen to experience a combination of adventure and exciting activities.
Today, the island offers all levels of accommodation – from family-friendly resorts to high-end luxury hotels. For younger visitors, seeking thrills and an abundance of nightlife, Chaweng and Lamai remain popular attractions, especially as both offer stunning beaches. However, if it’s peace and quiet you seek, or you’re in search of a romantic getaway, there are few better options than Choeng Mon or Bo Phut, which are located in the more sedate northern region of the island. Here, you’ll find several cultural attractions including the impressive ‘Big Buddha’ and it is also much easier to escape the tourist crowds in one of several secluded beaches. Due to the relatively small size of the island, it is easy to visit multiple destinations during your stay and there is an abundance of transportation options, including motorcycle taxis, rental cars, and mini-bus taxis.
